This past Saturday, my mom, sister, and I participated in the 2010 Women Can Run/Walk Arkansas 5K. We’ve been training for the past 10 weeks on Tuesdays and Saturdays (and Mom and I would normally throw in another day somewhere). We really enjoy the walking ( I have to walk because I’m 25 weeks pregnant…and since I didn’t run before I was pregnant, I can’t now…not that I would…I hate running!) and the time we get to chat while we walk. It’s an excellent stress reliever for me and I get to vent to Mom about things that are frustrating me! We plan to keep training and participate in our community’s festival 4 miler in June…I can’t wait!
I was very surprised to find out that I won my age division for walkers! We left before the awards were passed out because none of us thought we won anything…I have a medal coming though. I’ve never won anything like this for an athletic type event…unless All-American cheerleader counts. Anyway, Mom came in 7th in her age division for walkers and Leslie came in 5th in her division for runners! WE ROCK!
