Things I Love…

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are my Top Ten loves:

image1. A large Sonic coke.  It just doesn’t taste the same from anywhere else.  The ice is perfection and their coke is extra carbonated.

IMG_0702 2.  The “James: Mercy Triumphs” Bible study I’m attending every Wednesday morning right now.  It hits me right where I need it each and every time.  Even if you don’t follow along with a study on the book of James, just read through it several times.  It’s so applicable!

IMG_0642 3.  These 2 goobers…Paige and Ryan.  In absolutely  no way do I have it all together or even remotely close.  In fact I live far from having it all together.  I can’t tell you how many days I call my mom or Stephen and literally can’t catch my breath because I’m crying so hard either in frustration or despair because I’m convinced I’ve ruined my children’s lives.  These 2 challenge me, push me, and know how to get me going.  Nonetheless, I can’t imagine my life without them!  It’s amazing to see them grow and learn everyday.  I’m so thankful that God gave me the opportunity to stay at home with them.

branson 4.  My husband.  It’s not easy all the time, but what is?  We’ve been “together” for going on 12 (omg, we’re not as young as we used to be!) years and married for nearly 9 years.  We’ve had highs and lows, ups and downs, valleys and peaks.  We have about 400 adopted sons from his many football teams and about 200 adopted daughters from many softball seasons.  We’ve experienced the birth of a daughter, the miscarriage of a baby we can’t wait to meet someday in Heaven, and we’ve seen the completion of our family come in the form of our son.  We’ve endured moves, many years of hopeful promotions and then disappointment when those didn’t come, prayers about if we should stay where we are or if we should seek another job in another town, and the culmination of all of that with Stephen’s promotions this past spring and summer.  There are long standing issues that we’ve dealt with for many years that have just recently had a resolution come about.  We’re total opposites and somehow we make it all work!  SRB <3 MRB forever.

family pic1 5.  Panther Football and Lady Panther Fastpitch.  Stephen’s jobs aren’t just jobs to us.  We make it our ministry to love on and be an example to as many boys and girls in these sports as we can.  They know we are only a phone call or text away at any given moment.  For anything.  They’re ours and we love them.

IMG_2047 6.  I love Warrior Basketball.  I’ve been around basketball my entire life and I feel like I have a mind for it, much more so than football.  Doesn’t hurt that my Daddy coaches.  It’s kind of one of the only ways my Dad and I connect!

100_2405 7.  My mom and sister.  There are times when we don’t all get along.  And sometimes when we can’t talk to one another enough in one day.  These are the 2 that I come to in crisis or joy.  They’re my support and my rocks.  I love them!

IMG_2738 8.  Yes, I love everyone in this picture.  But, my focus is on my Gran (far right).  My Ran-Gay.  My call when I know nobody else can understand me.  She’ll scratch my back and let me sit in her lap even though I’m 29 years old.  I remember having more fun at her house growing up than anywhere else.  She taught me how to drive and I’d get to drive back and forth to her house and the post office on summer mornings.  I’ve never met a stronger, more God loving woman ever.  She’s my favorite, hands down.

9.  The Big Bang Theory.  We started watching this about a year ago and we scrambled to get our hands on each and every season on DVD as quickly as we could.  It’s one of the few shows that we will actually sit down and watch together and both enjoy!

10.  I’m not a brand snob at all, so any brand of Salt and Vinegar chips will do the trick for me!  I absolutely love them and I’d much rather eat a salty snack over a sweet one anyday.  :-)

Week 6 in Pictures

Monday, February 6:

IMG_0756 It was PB&J lunch day!  Ryan loves it and he shows it by getting it all over his face!

Tuesday, February 7:

IMG_0757 After Ryan and I dropped Paige off at school, we ran by the fieldhouse.  It wasn’t a planned visit so I had only changed Ryan’s diaper before we left our house…meaning no socks, no shoes, etc.  Of course he didn’t want to just sit in my lap and not walk around, so Stephen found an extra pair of socks and let Ryan run around!

Wednesday, February 8:

IMG_0761 I absolutely LOVE a man that cleans!

Thursday, February 9:

IMG_0764 Stephen’s Dad had hip replacement surgery today.  Stephen and I met him and his mom at the hospital after we dropped our kids off.  We were able to stay until about 2pm.  JB was out of surgery by then but they didn’t have enough clean rooms available so we couldn’t see him before we left.  He’s doing great in his recovery!

Friday, February 10:

IMG_0765 As soon as Stephen was done at school, we drove back to see JB in the hospital. We left Ryan with our babysitter and took it as an opportunity for some alone time with Paige.

Saturday, February 11:

IMG_0766 First, I cannot figure out how to rotate this picture! ugh! Anyway, Hallie played in the District Tournament finals Saturday afternoon.  Unfortunately she hurt her knee again in the semi-finals and she played with pains on Saturday.  They didn’t win the tournament, but they did come out on top in conference play!

Sunday, February 12:

IMG_0768 I hadn’t been to the grocery store in about 3 weeks so I had to go.  Then meteorologists began calling for several inches of snow in our area, so the grocery store was crazy.

1 and only Snow Day

IMG_2814

Normally we have a couple of snow days during the winter months, but we this year we only had 1 day.  We enjoyed the day because Stephen had the day off of work and he’s always up for snowball fights.  Me, not so much!

IMG_2815 IMG_2827 Stephen surprised me when we were trying to take a  self portrait of ourselves and gave me a kiss.  Very abnormal for him…he doesn’t want PDA documented!

IMG_2831 Paige’s hands got quite chilly so I put warm water in pie dish and had her soak them to gently warm her up.  We tried it with Ryan also, but of course all he wanted to do was splash all of the water out of the pie pan.

IMG_2835 Ryan wasn’t happy at all about having to come inside the house.  AT ALL.

Hallie-Hoo

hallie-edited

Hallie is our 2nd niece.  She’s 15 and a 9th grader and a super basketball player.  We enjoy going to as many of her games as possible!  Hallie has always had a different, special place in my heart and we just connect on a level that is unique to the relationships we have with our other nieces.

IMG_2185 She’s experienced knee problems for a couple of years now, but has continued to play through the pain.

IMG_2780 Hallie led her team to the District championship after winning the conference title for the 2nd straight year.  She hurt her knee for the final time during this game and earned herself a bed in the surgery center for knee surgery.

IMG_2233 #10 had a great season and we are so proud of her! Go Hallie!

Week 5 in Pictures

Monday, January 30:

IMG_0728 We went to Dover to watch Hallie play ball and Ryan enjoyed some double-stuffed Valentine Oreos!

Tuesday, January 31:

IMG_0730 Nothing like baths in the middle of the day because the diaper didn’t quite contain all it should!

Wednesday, February 1:

IMG_0731 We’ve been enjoying some very mild and warm winter temperatures!

Thursday, February 2:

IMG_0732 It seemed appropriate that Paige would read The Missing Tooth this week!

Friday, February 3:

IMG_0737 Ryan and Paige actually helped one another!  Most of the time when Ryan is in Paige’s room he’s getting into things that he definitely shouldn’t be in but today he helped Paige put all of her money in the jar.

Saturday, February 4:

IMG_0745 We got to celebrate Mom’s 50th birthday with a “Hats off to Susan” theme.  We ate at Buffalo Grill then opened gifts and shared yummy cake.

Sunday, February 5:

IMG_0755 Tatum’s birthday was the 3rd, but we had her family party on the 5th.  She’s officially a teenager now!

Hats off to Susan!

IMG_2731

For Mom’s 50th birthday we celebrated with a “Hats off to Susan” party in Little Rock.  We included Carrie and Leslie in the birthday celebrations because Carrie’s is also in January and Leslie’s is in March.
