6 months old!

Ryan is 6 months old already! Wow…time is absolutely flying.  We had his 6 month check-up done on Feb.15 and he weighed 16 pounds and 9 ounces (between 25-50th percentile).  Ryan is 28 1/2 inches long (above the 95th percentile). He had to have his right ear irrigated because it was so waxy that the doctor couldn’t see his ear drum!   Ryan is perfectly healthy and hitting his milestones wonderfully.  Unfortunately, less than a week later Ryan had developed RSV and an ear infection.  He was on about 4 medicines…Tamiflu (because Stephen had the flu the week before and Paige, Ryan, and I had to take it to try to avoid getting the flu), antibiotic for the ear infection, a medicine for RSV (similar to Benadryl, but safe for a baby), and Tylenol/Motrin.  He was a champ taking all of those meds!! It took him about a full week to get everything cleared up.

Here’s what Ryan is up to this month:

-He’s moved up to size 3 diapers

-He’s wearing 6-9 month clothing, with some 12 month mixed in.

-He is completely on formula now.  I stopped pumping on Feb. 28, so I actually made it about 10 days past my 6 month goal!

-He is still loving all of his food:squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, sweet peas, green beans, peaches, applesauce, pears, bananas

-He’s rolling over like crazy now!  He’s finally mastered front to back and vise versa.

-He’s sitting up unassisted for longer periods of time.  He’s good as long as he keeps his balance; if he starts swaying to one side or the other, he will fall over. 

-He absolutely LOVES his sister.  She can make him giggle like crazy!

-He spent the night away from us for the first time when he was 6 months old.  Paige slept at my parents house when she was 8 weeks old (out of necessity because our softball team was in the State Championships).  Ryan adjusted really well and slept all night for my parents. Very proud!

-He loves loves loves my parents’ dogs.  Oliver is to play with and Kipper is his protector. It’s really sweet.

-Ryan had his first bit of fun on Nanny and Papa’s swing…of course he loved it!

We are so in love with Ryan and thinking back to this time last year when I was just pregnant with him seems like an eternity ago.  We really can’t remember what it was like without him here!
