Ryan’s Room

I’ve (ok, we…Stephen has helped some!) been busy this week working on Ryan’s nursery…we finally finished clearing out the room on Monday so painting began on Tuesday.  It’s a long process because we’ve chosen navy as one of the wall colors and there are currently 2 coats on the wall and it’s going to take every bit of 3 coats to cover it correctly.  It’s also taking longer because I’m taking lots of breaks and my back and bottom hurt just about all the time now!

This room was Paige’s purple playroom before this week.  She’s been such a big girl about sharing her space and although the change is hard, she’s complained and questioned the transition very few times.

100_2696 This picture is actually from last night with only one coat of the navy paint on the walls.  It now has two and looks a little bit better…but it’s not there yet.  The white stripe was almost the death of me today.  It took 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of white paint to cover the right way.  I’m extremely particular about the way paint covers and I made the mistake of buying a cheap quart of white paint, thinking it really shouldn’t be that big of a deal.  I now realize that paying the extra $2 for the more expensive quart would have been a much wiser decision.  Thankfully, I chose the more expensive paint for the khaki (“Darby Creek”) and the navy (“Distinguished Navy”).

We’re hoping to move Ryan’s furniture by the end of the weekend.  I’ve lacked the motivation to get his room moving and done, but now that it’s started I’m really ready for it to be finished!  I was 32 weeks yesterday and I honestly cannot believe that it’s taken me this long to begin preparing his room.  It’s so different with the 2nd child!
