CopyCat

I love reading Interior Design blogs and one of my new favorites is http://www.joysofhome.blogspot.com/ ...she's got great ideas and I stole one from here today (She asked us to, by the way!). Check her blog out to see the original (and much more professional looking) project.

At Wal-Mart this morning, I bought a small wooden plaque and a wooden "B" to represent our last name. I bought craft paint and wood glue to complete the project. This is what it looked like before I started the project:

I chose to use craft paint because it is less messy than spray paint and I can do it on my kitchen counter instead of having to be outside, plus it dried really quickly! This is after they had 2 coats of craft paint:I chose the red and tan to match the decor in Master Bedroom/Master Bathroom. I wasn't really sure where I was going to end up putting this, so I went with colors that would blend in several different rooms. After the 2nd coat of paint dried, I used wood glue to attach the "B" to to plaque. I used 2 heavy books to hold the "B" onto the plaque for about 30 minutes. This is what it looks like completed:

I didn't remember that craft paint dries with a flat finish, so I'll have to return to WalMart to buy some spray glossy finish. I decided for now the best place for my new monogram is on my bathroom counter...I think it came out pretty well!

I don't remember exact prices of all the pieces, but the plaque was something like $1.20, the letter was around $2, the wood glue was somewhere around $2, and the easel was $3. The total was definitely less than $10. The next time I won't have to buy the wood glue, so that will save $2. I'm thinking these will be fantastic Christmas presents, birthday gifts, etc. Next time I'll probably use a larger wooden plaque or larger easel...or maybe both!

I love how your project came out. I am in the midst of making about 4 or 5 of them, lost count, lol. I actually think I finally got it down...I am new to crafting, so it was quite the project for me. I hope you will stop by and see mine when I post them :)

Nice to meet you,
Bella
