PandaMania Day 5…

didn’t go as planned for us!

thumbnail.aspx Stephen had just returned home from his brother’s house because we held a 3 day yard sale at their house during the week of VBS…doesn’t seem very smart now that I think about it!  When he got home, I asked him to take the laundry room trash out to the outside trash can.  Everything was fine until he came back into the house and announced that he had cut himself while pushing the trash down into the outside can.  He wasn’t sure what exactly had cut him, but it didn’t really matter!  I knew immediately that it needed stitches and Stephen honestly didn’t put up a fight.  I think he knew deep down that it needed stitches too.

I immediately went into amped up “Mom mode” and started calling and texting people at our Doctor’s office.  I finally got in touch with one of them and they said to come down as soon as we could and they would work Stephen in.  I just love our Doctor and his staff!  I called our niece, Hannah, that was also working at VBS and told her what was going on.  She told me that they would cover my VBS teaching and then she came to pick Paige up and take her back to the church.  She’s awesome like that.

We got Paige on her way and loaded Ryan up to take with us.  We didn’t have to wait very long and they called Stephen back.  The cut had almost stopped bleeding by this time so Stephen was starting to question the necessity of the stitches.  When the Dr. looked at it and opened it up, Stephen realized just how deep it really was!  The Dr. said that it would heal on its own, but it would continue to break open because of where its located (bottom of his pinky finger where your finger meets your pam…right on the bed).  With Stephen at the fieldhouse so much, we decided it would be best to do the stitches to try and avoid infection and to shorten the healing time.

2 stitches later, he was fixed up.  By the time we got out of the office and went to Wal.Mart to get the right type of band.aids, it was almost 11 and VBS ends at noon.  So we just went to the yard sale!

I hated missing the last day of VBS, but family is always first.  SO…not one picture of PandaMania Day 5!
