I’m not technically homeschooling Paige. She is attending a Mother’s Day Out program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday from 8:30-11:30 am. But, Paige is also doing “school work” with me at home each day. We always do an Alphabet activity and then we rotate through activities in Language Arts, Math, Concepts, and Thinking Skills. It’s been really great for our routine and it’s time that’s reserved for just Paige and I because we normally do the activities while Ryan is taking his morning nap. Once her MDO begins, we’ll have to adjust that time. She’s very into doing her work and I’ve already seen improvement in her writing skills and well as her ability to take her time and do the work the correct way instead of rushing through just to be finished. I’m impressed with her desire to learn and do more. She’s beginning to read some sentences and while I’m not encouraging reading just yet (because I don’t want her Kindergarten teacher to kill me because she’s a pest because she’s bored), I’m definitely not stifling her.
All that to say, I realized just how great “Homeschooling” could be because we took her work with us this morning to Ryan’s one year check up appointment and she sat in the waiting room and completed her first sheet of work and was absolutely tuned in and did wonderful! I knew our afternoon would be busy because we are starting to set up for Ryan’s party tomorrow and then we have the Red and White game tonight for football, so the work had to be done this morning. It was so easy to throw her binder into her activity bag and take it with us! I loved it!
