5 Months Old

Ryan is 5 months old today!  It blows my mind that in just one month he will be 1/2 a year old.  Which means I only have about 5 months before I have to start planning his first birthday party…ok, not going to worry about that just yet.  I want to enjoy him being 5 months old!

I cleaned up Paige’s old highchair today and Ryan got to sit in it for the first time during his supper time…he ate really well in it, but wasn’t completely excited to be sitting in the chair.  We’ll practice each day and it will get easier and easier, I’m sure.

Here’s what Ryan is up to this month:

*I’m not exactly sure what he weighs, but I’m guessing somewhere in the 15-16 pound range.

*He eats 4 times a day…I nurse him at 8am, noon, and 8 pm.  He also eats at 4pm, but that’s a total bottle feeding.  At the 8, 4, and 8 feedings, he also gets rice cereal and real food.

*Favorite foods are:  sweet potatoes, pears, applesauce, squash, and bananas.  He doesn’t love green beans and won’t eat them on their own, so I mix some in with his sweet potatoes and he normally eats them with no problem.

*Ryan takes 2 naps a day…one from 10am-noon and his longer afternoon nap from 1:30-4:00pm. 

*Fussy period is from about 5:30-8:00pm.  Sometimes he’ll take about a 30 minute nap somewhere in there.  We normally try to take his bath at this time because it decreases his fussiness!

*He’s getting better about floor time…and he’s so close to rolling over!  :-)

*Ryan has seemed to find his voice lately.  He makes noises just to hear himself talk!

*He’s still wearing size 2 diapers and he’s moving into 6-9 month clothing quite quickly.  Ryan is very tall,so he needs the length that size gives!
