Day 3…the day when everyone is worn down, tired, and a bit grouchy. It’s the top of the mountain and from here on out, it’s a downhill march to the finish line. Today the Bible story was about Jonah and how he chose to disobey God and run far away from Ninevah. The set up was intense…I didn’t leave VBS until 2pm yesterday because we created 3 huge fish (one for each of the Bible Adventure stations) but the end result was so worth it. The kids absolutely loved the experience. To add more reality to being in the whale, we opened cans of sardines so the inside of the “belly” would mimic what the inside of the big fish might have smelled like.
Paige has done so amazing this week at VBS. She’s always loved coming, but this year she’s grasping the stories and she’s really hiding God’s words in her heart. She comes home singing the songs, repeating the stories, and eager to show off her craft creations.
The focus of this VBS is found in Psalms 139. Monday we learned that God made each of us wonderfully complex, Tuesday was God hears us even before we know what we are going to say, and today we learned that God is always with us.
Tomorrow is a big, big day. It’s the day that we present the Plan of Salvation and it’s a super intense experience. My Bible Adventure groups have really latched on to what I’ve been telling them and I’m praying for some God size decisions to be made at VBS that will change these kids’ lives forever!
